Colorful Spanish Cordoba..Spanish-Regions
The province of Cordoba is one of Spain’s most colorful areas. Rich in history and full of spectacular landscapes, there is much to do and see in Cordoba. From the Sierra Morena hills in the north to the fertile growing areas in the south, exploring Cordoba is an unforgettable experience.
Northern Cordoba
Most tourists rarely visit this part of the province because parts of it are fairly remote. The landscape is dominated by the Sierra Morena hills, covered with oak and pine trees and stretching across the entire province and beyond. For the visitor looking to get off the beaten track, northern Cordoba is home to picturesque villages where the traditional culture of Spain is alive and well.
Central Cordoba
The dominant feature in this province is the Guadalguivir River. The river has played a central role in the history of Cordoba because of it strategic and functional importance. Most of the towns and villages in Cordoba are located at or near crossing points of the river and in these places, a visitor can find an enormous assortment of things to do.
The City of Cordoba, capital of the province, is also located along the Guadalguivir River. It is the highest navigable point of the river so its strategic significant as a port city made it attractive to numerous occupying forces over the centuries. The city is well known for its Roman origins, but is most noted for the spectacular mosque built during its days of Moorish occupation.
Southern Cordoba
The southern part of Cordoba province is filled with fertile farmland and home to traditional artisans still plying their trades. In this area, visitors will find many villages that thrive on the resources of the land. Olives, sunflowers, and wine grapes are just a few of the plentiful crops that stretch as far as the eye can see across the landscape.
The south of Cordoba province is largely unspoiled and maintains a relaxed lifestyle, partially due to the lack of high speed roads and highways. It is accessible and easy to get around, but expect to do your exploring at a more leisurely pace than in other parts of Spain.
Natural Parks
Cordoba is home to numerous natural parks, reserves and monuments located throughout the province. From the Sierra de Cardena y Montoro in the north to the Molino de la Albolafia on the banks of the Guadalguivir River, these spectacular areas are great for spotting wildlife and exploring historically important sites.

There are so many good points about Mosa that it is hard to sum them up. However, the main reasons that we bought here were:
On our first visit we realised that we had not arrived at an ordinary tourist site. This was going to be something special."
