Malaga – An Amazing Destination..Spanish-Regions
Want to be amazed? Visit the city of Malaga, located on the Mediterranean coast of Spain. This charming city combines all the benefits of the modern world with the traditions of Spanish culture. Founded in the 8th century by Phoenician traders, Malaga is home to historic sites, museums, stunning hilltop views, and of course, shopping.
The Gibralfaro And Alcazaba
The Gibralfaro is a 14th century fortress overlooking the city, and the Alcazaba is a smaller 11th century fortress located just below. From the top of Gibralfaro you can walk along the ramparts and imagine yourself scanning the horizon for invading ships. When you explore the exotic gardens and fountains of Alcazaba you’ll and marvel at the beauty within the walls
The Cathedral
After the Moors were driven out of Malaga, the Cathedral was built by a succession of Catholic kings. It was started in 1528 and completed in 1728, so you can imagine that the structure has features from across that lengthy period. When you visit the Cathedral be sure to stop and appreciate the beauty of the choir stalls. For a more intimate experience, step into the two smaller chapels, Capilla Mayor and Capilla del Sagrado Corazon
Art And Culture
Spain is well known as a bastion of art and culture, and in Malaga you’ll understand why the reputation is so well deserved. When you explore the city you’ll find the Museum of Arts, the Museum of Popular Art and Customs, and an important collection of religious arts at the Diocesal Museum. You can even visit the house were the famous painter Pablo Picasso was born!
Other Sights
Malaga is also home to some other beautiful churches and historic examples of 18th century architecture. If you just want to relax and appreciate the beauty of the Mediterranean, walk through one of the many beautiful parks located right along the shore. You’ll enjoy the cool sea breezes as well as many different species of birds that make the parks their home.
Sparkling Nightlife
After a day exploring the historic parts of Malaga it’s time to step up the tempo a bit and explore the abundant nightlife. The area is famous for its “locos veranos” (crazy summers) on the beaches and in the local hot spots. Explore the sea side area to find exceptional restaurants, and then move along to one of the many nightclubs in El Palo. For more classical Andalusian cuisine and entertainment, try one of the many pubs located in the Pedragalejo part of town.
Summary
Malaga is both a starting point and a destination for any visit to Spain. Experience the history and culture that fills the city, then join the exuberant locals to enjoy the nightlife that’s such an important part of their lives. For an amazing taste of Spain, include Malaga on your trip itinerary!
Jamos - www.spaingolfproperty.co.uk |
In 4 days - our whirlwind trip - and after visiting the key golfing destinations in the immediate vicinity of Mosa (Las Ramblas, Campomar, Villa Martin and La Manga), a quick trip into Murcia, many hours chatting to the Sales Team and being introduced to future Mosa residents, and MANY, MANY beers and Irish Whiskey's later(!) we were hooked! We had a gut feeling that Mosa would meet our criteria.
A highly sought after location."
