Costa Calida: Centuries Of History and a Coastline Of Beauty..Spanish-Regions
Imagine yourself on a scenic coastline in Spain, enjoying the sun and surf and legendary culture. When you visit Costa Calida, Spain, your wildest imaginings come to life.
This amazing area of Spain boasts some of the most pristine beaches you’ll ever find, stretching along the southeast coast of the country. Warm ocean water and 320+ days of sunshine annually make it a popular tourist destination year round. Here you will be surrounded the culture of Spain and experience the warmth of its people. It’s not just another tourist destination, though, as Costa Calida is a place with a rich and varied history.
Archaeologists tell us the first human presence along Costa Calida occurred about 1.5 million years ago, but the area didn’t really start to prosper until about 713AD when the Moors invaded. They brought with them advances in architecture, art and agriculture. History shows that they built an innovative system of irrigation and began growing oranges, and rice. In fact, their irrigation system is the basis for the current watering system in many areas of the region.
During the Spanish civil war the area witnessed some intense fighting and went into a gradual economic decline, save for the successful citrus growing industry. In recent years Costa Calida has experienced a rebirth as native Spaniards and people from all over Europe have returned to explore the scenic coastline and relax in the warm ocean waters.
One of the unusual and special things about Costa Calida is that visitors can actually choose from beaches along two differed seas. Of course the Mediterranean Sea is easily accessible, but there is also a smaller sea known as the Mar Menor. Mar Menor is an inland sea separated from the Mediterranean by a long strip of land, so the water there is warm, shallow, and high in salinity. It’s a special favourite of families since the water is so pleasant and the high salinity makes floating around especially easy.
Vacation cottages and second homes abound up and down Costa Calida but the area has not lost its charm or peacefulness. Vacationers can easily find a rental cottage that puts them right on the soft sandy beach where the quiet is a true respite from the rest of the world. More and more connoisseurs of fine relaxation are turning to Costa Calida for their second home. They appreciate the traditional culture and community feel that come with immersing themselves in the jewel that is Costa Calida.
History, culture and relaxation converge in the scenic coastline area of Spain called Costa Calida. Whether you stay for a few days, a few weeks, or a few months, you’re sure to fall in love with Costa Calida and the warmth of the people who live there.

In 4 days - our whirlwind trip - and after visiting the key golfing destinations in the immediate vicinity of Mosa (Las Ramblas, Campomar, Villa Martin and La Manga), a quick trip into Murcia, many hours chatting to the Sales Team and being introduced to future Mosa residents, and MANY, MANY beers and Irish Whiskey's later(!) we were hooked! We had a gut feeling that Mosa would meet our criteria.
A highly sought after location."
