Gandia is only 10kms from La Drova and is reached by a scenic drive down an easily negotiated mountain pass and then through the orange groves that stretch all the way to the first building line of the city. It is the second largest city in the province of Valencia and is both a thriving commercial and tourist centre. It probably has the best shopping between Valencia and Alicant with endless numbers of small boutiques and cafes, many of which are in pedestrian only areas. It is also a cultural centre with several museums and historical buildings. The beach area is typically, for this part of Spain, separate from the commercial area, (approx. 3kms). It is a fishing port and boasts a 7km white sand 'Blue Flag' beach. It is one of the favourite holiday destinations of the people of Madrid and is teaming with bars, resturants and for the late-nighters, indoor and open-air disco's that stay open to the early morning.
