Museo Arqueologico Provincial
The Archeological Museum is located in the Place of the Provincial Council. The Museum has such a large collection of archeological remains that only a selection of pieces is actually on display to the public. Of note are the dowries from the Bronze Age and a collection of Iberian and Roman ceramics. There is also a valuable collection of popular ceramics. There is also a valuable collection of popular ceramics form the 16th to the 19th century.

Museo Municipal Casa de la Asegurada
La Casa de la Asegurada is a municipal museum constructed in the 17th century. Throughout its history it has had a variety of functions: municipal granary, prison, artillery storehouse and a school of commerce. Today it houses a 20th century art collection donated to the city in 1976 by the artist Eusebio Sempere. The collection comprises works by major Spanish artists, like Tapies, Alfaro, Miro and Picasso.

EL Castillo de Santa Barbara
The Castle of Santa Barbara is situated on the top of the 166 meter-high Benacantil mountain. The castle gives fantastic panoramic views over Alicante and the sea surrounding it. Even though the original castle dates from the 9th century, there have been important archeological discoveries on the hillsides of the mountain dating from Roman times. At the foot of the mountain sits the famous beach of “EL Postiguet”.

The castle is open for public every day of the week.

There are two ways to reach the castle at the top of the mountain: On foot (free) or with a lift ($ 4).
